Your doctor has recommended Physical Therapy and there are a few things you need to know prior to your appointment.
The State of Rhode Island allows for Direct Access (with the exception of Medicare), so Choice Physical Therapy can be your first point of access for muscoloskeletal care; however, your insurance company MAY require a referral from your physician to receive physical therapy services. Please check with your insurance provider prior to scheduling your first appointment.
Although we try to assist you in determining your coverage with your insurance plan, it is always wise to call your insurance company yourself prior to your visit to determine what coverage you have for Physical Therapy services.
Choice Physical Therapy is a participating provider with most major insurance plans; please check with our front desk when you arrive for your appointment.
If you are covered by a Managed Care Plan, it is important that you check with your primary care physician to make sure they have sent us the managed care referral. This is sometimes separate from the Physician referral and it is important to make sure you have both in place.
Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment time to allow us time to process your paperwork. You can download your forms and fill them out prior to your appointment.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that will allow your injured body part to be exposed and evaluated by your therapist.
Please plan on spending 1 – 1 ½ hours on your first appointment. This allows the physical therapist to spend the time evaluating you and establishing a treatment plan that will allow you to attain your goals.
If you have any questions prior to your visit, please call us at 401.885.1792 and we will be happy to assist you.
We look forward to seeing you and helping to get you back to doing those everyday things you love to do!
